District that one has to take into account as a pilgrim passage of St James Way in the Silver Route, over centuries, but in which the Roman road, in its course throughout this area, is not properly signalled, and it is possible that it is more related to its boundaries with Cebrones town or even farther.

The Town Council consists of the towns of Santa Elena, Jiménez and Villanueva and is crossed by Jamuz river. However, until recent times, cranks and water-wheel were the traditional irrigation system, from which interesting examples are left.

Although currently the Town Council is set in the locality of Santa Elena, it was in Villanueva in the past, old Jurisdiction of the county of Luna, where there is a castle that shows the coat of arms of the Quiñones and the Toledos.

Jimenez de Jamuz stands out because of its pottery, its living Way of the Cross which represents the evening of Good Friday, and all the district, because of the Mayos which were placed on the month with the same name (Spanish: Mayo, English: May).
